Hey Baby I Hear the Blues Are Calling Tossed Salad

"But I don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs. They're callin' once again."
Is "tossed salad & scrambled eggs" some other proper noun for...fruitcakes? Patently because "they" are the callers of Dr Frazier'southward talk show. Byt why "tossed salad and why "scrambled eggs"? Is this a common expression?

P.S.Now "they" don't call Frazier anymore because "they" moved to chat rooms to get instant feedback. Skilful riddance.

"Simply I don't know what to practice with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs. They're callin' over again." Is "tossed salad ... the callers of Dr Frazier'southward talk evidence. Byt why "tossed salad and why "scrambled eggs"? Is this a common expression?

Say what? I oasis't watched Frasier in a long fourth dimension, but that song goes something like "At present infant I hear those blues a-callin'/Tossed salads and scrambled eggs", and the "they" of "they're callin' once more" is, I always thought, the blues. Why tossed salads and scrambled eggs? I assumed it was supposed to call back imagery of a guy whose wife has left him or whatever and so he has no one to cook for him, so he's forced to alive on the few foods that are easy enough for him to prepare. TTBOMK it is non a common or fixed expression. Think of Coop: he tin't cook much, but I'll bet he tin make scrambled eggs, and maybe he tin put a simple iceberg lettuce salad together.
I never idea that the "a-callin'" could besides be a reference to the callers on the radio testify of the character Frasier, and now that I call up about it, I remember that is an wrong interpretation.

Areff filted:

I happened to overhear someone talking to Kelsey Grammer the other mean solar day, and he mentioned the vocal...manifestly information technology'southward meant to evoke the thought of "things that are all mixed up"..r

Dr Crane'southward talk prove, not Dr Frazier'south. First name Frasier (with an 'south' not Frazier with a Zee 'cos Frazier with a Zee spells ..end, that way madness (and wedlock to David) lies).

Note: The final line of the theme vocal lyrics varied from episode to episode.
They were:

2.. Expert night, Seattle, nosotros love y'all.
3.. What is a male child to practise. Expert night.
iv.. Frasier has left the building.
5.. Cheers!

Cheers. I did not intend to analyze the lyrics of "Frasier". I was only wondering whether "tossed salad..." is a mutual expression. At present I'm more dislocated considering Arreff suggested that "tossed salad" means "the dejection".

Cheers. I did not intend to analyze the lyrics of "Frasier". I was but wondering whether "tossed salad..." is a common expression. Now I'm more dislocated because Arreff suggested that "tossed salad" ways "the dejection".

Pay no listen to Areff. A "tossed salad" is a mutual The states expression for a salad made of lettuce and other veggies. The ingredients are tossed together to mix them up.

Pay no listen to Areff. A "tossed salad" is a common US expression for a salad made of lettuce and other veggies. The ingredients are tossed together to mix them up.

I agree with the second two sentences to some degree, Coop, but what I find odd is that you lot used the give-and-take "veggies". Yes, it's true, tossed salads contain ingredients that nosotros regard as "vegetables", merely for some reason I don't really think of them every bit "vegetables" in a conventional salad context.
BTW, in New York "vegetable" is pronounced /'vEtS,[email protected]@l/ (three syllables, beginning syllable like "vetch").

What do you lot call tomatoes and sliced green peppers? Montana? A Reuben? One never knows how you lot allocate things.
BTW, we went to "Toojay's" recently. Supposedly, Toojay's is a deli. They serve a Reuben as a roll-up with simply a hint of something pinkish which was allegedly Russian Dressing. I was incredulous when it was presented to me. The waitress had no idea why I was disappointed. TEOTWAWKI.

I was only wondering whether "tossed salad..." is a mutual expression. Now I'1000 more confused considering Arreff suggested that "tossed salad" ways "the blues".

1. Yes, Tossed Salad is a common expressionin American cooking and restaurant menus.
2. It does not mean the blues in eastern Due north. America.(I do not know whether information technology has this meaning in Seattle.)
